"Metal, you're absolutely barking mad."  Quick Man quirked his brow.  "Honestly, me, mark things?  How?"

Metal Man shook his head quietly, then sighed at his younger brother.  "Quick, it's simple.  You have Widowmaker, don't you?"  He then pointed to the over-sized boomerang that Quick constantly clutched.  "You slice an X into the wall."

Metal then approached Quick Man's right side, clapping his hand on the younger robot's right shoulder.  "For what it's worth, I believe you can do this.  You're a competent guy, Quick."  He then looped around his brother, graceful footsteps almost seeming like a dance.  Once he was on the left side of the crimson speedster of the Wilies, he looped an arm around Quick Man.  "If you had been incompetent, this fortress wouldn't have been repaired with your help, you wouldn't have repaired the Sonic Formula, and you wouldn't have survived to make it back here.  You've done all three of those, Quick Man Lightning Wily.  So believe me when I say I believe in you."

Quick reached his right hand up, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.  Green eyes fixed on the red sawblade-slinging robot.  He didn't know what to say.  Wait, no.  He knew one thing he could say easily.  "Th-thanks bro.  I...needed that vote of confidence, honestly.  You really--"

"--I really mean it, Quick.  Now stop second-guessing things."  Metal reassured him.  "Think of it this way.  What would Sheriff Quinn do?"

Quick froze up, almost as though his systems had been halted by Time-Stopper, without the painful sensation side-effects.  He wasn't halted, however.  He was thinking.  There were just too many variables: the wind direction, the speed of the train, the speed of the outlaw.  Didn't Metal know something like this?

Metal waved his hand in front of Quick's eyes; his face held a quirked brow and a faint frown.  "Earth to Quick Man.  Are you okay in there?"

"So, what's the direction of the wind and the speed of the outlaw in the scenario?"  Quick Man suddenly blurted.

Metal Man facepalmed, then laughed.  "Quick, assume the wind is coming from the south and there are no outlaws, he's just marking a condemned building."

"But very few buildings were condemned back then..."  Quick raised his finger.  "I mean, I suppose you could say that the building was too far gone and he had to mark it for tearing down anyway, but the standards by which buildings were condemned--"

"--Okay.  Act like the wind is coming from the south, there are no outlaws, and it's a building that needs to be torn down anyway."  Metal gave an exasperated sigh.  "Now, does that help you."

Quick raised his finger once more, pursing his lips.  "Now, there's more factors too.  Is he riding Drake?"

"Assume he went on foot."

"Oh, is Mayor Matthew with him or is Frederick with him?"

"Mayor Matthew is with him."

"Is he trying to impress his big brother?"

"No.  He's just listening to his brother's orders."

"Oh, and what's the weather like?"

"Clear, kind of chilly."

Quick Man stood quietly, trying to process the situation.  So Quinn was out on a chilly, clear day, doing what his brother was telling him, with a breeze from the south, marking buildings to be torn down.  What would Quinn do?  He propped his chin on his right fist, chewing on his lip for a little bit.  What would Quinn do?

His face lit up.  "Alright.  I know exactly what to do!"  He then turned to bring his free arm around Metal Man.  "Thanks bro.  I promise I won't disappoint you. Just like Quinn would never disappoint Matthew."

Metal sighed lightly, then wrapped his arms around his younger brother.  He then stepped back.  "You gonna be okay, Quick?"

Quick Man swung his large boomerang over his shoulder with his left hand and smiled bright, giving a thumbs-up.  "Of course big bro."

"Good.  Dismissed."  Metal smiled and nodded.

"Night bro."  Quick smiled, walking out of Metal's room.

"Night."  Metal spoke softly.  Once Quick had left the room, he glanced to the stack of books on his bedside table.  Maybe he really should read those Sheriff Quinn novels.

Eh.  Maybe later.
This fic is totally and utterly based on the :iconrobotic-uprising: roleplay.

Quick Man sometimes needs assurance, admittedly. And Metal Man is more than happy to oblige, because he honestly wants to be the good brother that his siblings look up to. Even if he still hasn't read the Sheriff Quinn novels.

Metal Man and Quick Man (c) Capcom.

PS: Franks, I hope I pulled off your version of Metal good enough...

I know it's a bit shameless after already plugging it once, but if you're interested in forum-based roleplays, and you're a fan of Mega Man, I recommend checking out #Robotic-Uprising:iconrobotic-uprising:

If my internet weren't so much crap, I would've found this and geeked sooner.

Eh. I'll just geek now. Metal really should read those books. He got a few chapters into the first and now he's procrastinating, blah. And I always loved the relationship between these two in the RP. xD

And yes, you pulled off RUMets just fine.
